19 May 2019 – Doha, Qatar:
Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) concluded another hugely successful Ramadan Sports Festival (RSF), its eighth to date. The festival involved a series of 12 sporting evening competitions and tournaments in a wide range of sports including basketball, football, volleyball, hockey, table tennis, fitness challenges, wall-climbing and walking. During this year’s RSF, more than 800 female and male participants took part in the various sporting events.
The Men’s basketball competition on Friday brought the festival to a close. The Doha Ballers secured first place in the competition, with Hoopers achieving second place and Money Team coming third. The winners were awarded their medals and cups by the chairman of the organising committee of the festival, Mr. Abdullah Aman Al-Khater.
Commenting on the conclusion of the festival, the chairman of the organising committee of the festival, Mr. Abdullah Aman Al-Khater, said; “For the eighth consecutive year, AZF has organised yet another hugely successful and popular Ramadan Sports Festival which has been a big hit with the community. It has also proven to be a very effective way of encouraging people to engage in a moderate level of physical activity whilst fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. I would like to congratulate the first-place winners in all the competitions. But in truth, everyone who took part is a winner since all participants were able to experience a fun and engaging competitive environment. Finally, I would like to extend my utmost appreciation and thanks to the entire team at AZF, Qatar Women Sport Committee, Qatar Paralympic Committee and the sponsors who worked so well together to make this festival a success.”
