The workshops follow the recent agreement between AZF and YAC to work together to decorate a 455-meter wall in the vicinity of the Aspire Zone sports complex, featuring a number of paintings by young Qatari artists reflecting themes such as movement and ambition in sports.
The “Aspire Art of Movement” project reflects the universal appeal of sport and art as subjects that can be understood by people of all nationalities and backgrounds. AZF has launched the project in recognition of the strong effect that art can create on human emotions, and its ability to leave positive, lasting impressions about sport.
Commenting on the success of the workshops, Nasser Al-Hajri, Director of Marketing at Aspire Zone said:
“This initiative reflects the commitment of both organisations to encourage talented young Qataris in the fields of sport and art. The project will give these inspiring young artists the opportunity to exhibit their work outside of traditional gallery spaces. It will allow the public to interact with their art in an open space and provides a great platform to promote their work to the large numbers of sports fans and members of the public who visit Aspire on a daily basis. We’re grateful to YAC for their cooperation and collaboration in organising these workshops, and we’re always delighted to support young Qataris whether helping to develop their sporting talent or in other areas.”
Artist Salman Al-Malik, Chairman of YAC, said:
“One of our objectives is to encourage and train young Qatari artists to promote their talent. The Youth Art Centre is always keen to develop platforms such as “Aspire Art of Movement” to enable artists to showcase their artwork to new audiences and to members of the community in innovative ways. We have organised numerous workshops during the past three months, leading to the creation of some remarkable artwork that is guaranteed to appeal to art and sports fans in Qatar. The artists have taken bold, innovative and modern approaches to their work and expressed their ideas and passion powerfully in their art.”
